State management

Self-regulation & quick support in any moment – back to being able to act

Your state can feel like the weather – something that hits you out of nowhere. Learn to manage your state instead of being managed by it – with a toolbox that works in seconds – and real power over yourself.

What state management is

A state of mind is your current overall state: body tension, emotion, attention, thoughts. It often feels like the weather – something that hits you out of nowhere. In fact, it can be influenced, using several levers at once: through breathing, through the body, through attention, through language and interpretation.

State management is the skill of knowing these levers and pulling them at the right moment. Not to always feel great – that would be an empty promise. But to stay able to act in overwhelming moments, to find your way out of bad states, and to switch more easily and consciously from one current state to another (e.g., from work into your evening, or into your vacation state without a big “arrival”) instead of getting stuck in them.

This is training, not a secret. Every technique in this program comes with its mechanism explained: why it works, how well it’s supported by evidence – and where its limits are.

What You Will Learn

  • Acute quick support that works in seconds to minutes: breathing techniques, bodywork, tapping techniques, grounding and centering techniques
  • How to work with emotions, especially fear: naming and guiding feelings instead of fighting them, riding the waves instead of swimming against them, meeting fear in a tolerable dose
  • Working with your inner team: Learn to ignite and bring your inner parts to life exactly where they support you, and to keep the others (e.g., your inner critic) on board, but not at the wheel
  • The power of language: which self-talk supports you, which affirmations work – and which are proven to backfire
  • Setting and recalling anchors: the art of intentionally linking and recalling states
  • Boundary competence and the comfort-zone game: Not only training the return to your ability to act, but also skillfully expanding your room for calm and composure

In the end, you won’t have a collection of tricks, but a personal (emergency) toolbox: a set of tools that fits you, that you’ve mastered and know how to use.

When this skill becomes especially powerful

State management is foundational training: it carries you through every life theme. In an acute crisis, it gives you solid ground under your feet (Crisis & Healing). In transition phases, it keeps you able to act when a lot is shaky at once and brings you into the state that lets you succeed (Life & Change). And in a consciously good life, it’s the basis on which satisfaction can grow at all (Happiness & Satisfaction). You can train this skill on its own – or as part of one of these life-theme programs.

Who This Program Is For – and Who It’s Not For

It’s for you if you want real tools instead of motivational slogans, and if you’re willing to practice – because state regulation comes from repetition, not from listening.

It’s not the right fit if you’re struggling with a mental illness: then assessment and treatment belong in therapeutic hands, and self-help training is, at best, an addition—never a replacement. Just as clear: this program does not work through old wounds. If you want to process the past, the program “Crisis & Processing” is a better place – here it’s about managing the now.
